Research participants needed, won't take much of your time at all! Please and thanks!
Hello! I am a Forensic Psychology student in the UK, and am finishing up my year with my dissertation. I am conducting research titled 'Understanding Prevent: A thematic analysis of educational professional’s perceptions of UK’s Prevent strategy.' For my research, I need between 8 and 10 educational professionals to answer a few open ended questions about their experiences and opinions on the Prevent legislation in the UK. Being from the North of England, it's difficult to find participants who have been exposed properly to the legislation, so it would be ideal if any participants from higher-risk areas could come forward. If anyone is interested, please do get in contact. All data gathered from this will remain fully confidential, and has potential to make for a very impactful and highly relevant piece of research. I hope that a few of you read this and choose to partake, I would be eternally thankful! Submitted July 31, 2017 at 10:36PM by ForensicPsychResearc via reddit http://ift.tt/2uduCRQ
How to handle illegitimate authors of my paper being added without my consent?
I'm currently publishing a paper, and just got accepted into journal Y. A professor previously wanted nothing to do with my paper, as they thought that I would be denied when submitting. I am second author on the paper. Upon hearing that the paper was accepted, the professor wanted to be added to the list of authors. They have not contributed anything to the paper. The first author is wanting to not have any sort of issue with the professor, and wants to add them to it. I see a moral issue with allowing this to happen, as the professor has not contributed to our project in any way. Is there anything that is wrong in me not wanting to add an author who has not authored the paper, but merely wants the credit for our hard work, and is there anything I could do about this if the first author makes changes to the list of authors without my consent? PhDs.org broken?
Does anyone know why PhDs.org doesn't work anymore? For example, the applied math link is stuck. Submitted July 30, 2017 at 06:31AM by coin_was_taken via reddit http://ift.tt/2eYnXJ2

Help me plan courses for MS in Computer Science.
I'll be starting grad school in August and I need help deciding what courses to take. I want to become a full stack web developer. I have intermediate knowledge in C, Python, JavaScript (some node.js and D3.js too), and PHP. I have to take a minimum of 10 courses in my 2 years of MSCS. Here's a list of all the courses I wish to take: Computer Architecture and Organization (Compulsory - Fall 2017) Programming Languages (Compulsory - Fall 2017) Data Structures and Algorithms (Compulsory - Spring 2018) Operating Systems (Compulsory - Spring 2018) Database Systems Information Retrieval Introduction to Data Mining Advanced Topics in OOP (C++; I have no prior experience in the language) Design Patterns (Java; I have no prior experience in the language) Software Engineering (With major team project) Introduction to Visual Information Processing Computer Graphics Programming Models for Emerging Platforms Software and Engineering Project Management Introduction to Machine Learning Programming Systems & Tools Web Based Programming Web Data Management Advanced Data Mining Seminar I would also appreciate some help with when to take the courses that you think are best for me. I have to take a minimum of 7 courses in total in the first year. If I plan to take 3-4-4-2 courses in the 4 semesters, then I will have to choose 9 courses out of the 15 electives that I'm interested in. Here is my first draft of a plan which follows the 3-4-4-2 structure: Fall 2017: Computer Architecture and Organization Programming Languages Introduction to Visual Information Processing Spring 2018: Data Structures & Algorithms Operating Systems Database Systems Introduction to Data Mining Fall 2018: Information Retrieval Introduction to Machine Learning Web Based Programming Web Data Management Spring 2019: Programming Systems and Tools UNDECIDED Any help will be appreciated. Thank you! Submitted July 28, 2017 at 06:52AM by sahilkolwankar via reddit http://ift.tt/2tIR4CE |
