Admittedly, I'm writing this while dealing with some rather raw emotions. Yesterday, I was accepted to a major conference in my field--my first major conference acceptance, and one of my few shots remaining before my dissertation defense--only to get an email from the panel organizer letting me know that because they did not follow the conference's guidelines about types of submission they can accept and the proportions of grads/faculty that must be maintained, the panel is canceled. I am beyond pissed. I am fucking furious.
I don't know if there is anything I can do about this or a way to appeal this situation, and it's very hard right now to prevent myself from sending an angry email back to them. A tenured faculty member just fucked over a bunch of us, especially those of us who really needed a prestigious conference presentation to put on our CVs.
